The lens should be cleaned with a 
rigid contact lens cleaning 
solution and rinsed with saline 
solution.  The lens can be wetted 
with a wetting or conditioning 
solution but the majority of the 
solution should be rinsed off with 
saline.  If too much wetting or 
conditioning solution is left on 
the lens it can cause corneal 
staining and discomfort.  If one 
wants solution in the lens when 
it is placed on the eye use saline.

If one wishes to use fluorescein to evaluate the lens fit, fluorescein should be placed in the lens prior to placement.
